This policy explains what TaxKeel Pro, the paid add-on for the free TaxKeel plugin, reads on your store, what stays on your site, what leaves it, and what we receive. Visitors to this website are covered by our separate website privacy policy. Questions go to info@brainfeedsolutions.com.
TaxKeel Pro is made by BrainFeed Solutions, based in Ahmedabad, India. This policy covers TaxKeel Pro and the information we receive about people who try or buy it.
The free TaxKeel plugin makes no outside requests and sends nothing about your store anywhere, so there's nothing for us to receive from it. Buying TaxKeel Pro is handled by Freemius, whose own privacy policy covers the checkout.
To run the past-order tax audit and the US economic nexus tracker, TaxKeel Pro reads these details from your WooCommerce orders:
It doesn't read customer names, street addresses, email addresses or phone numbers. The bulk tax class tools read and change the tax class and tax status of your products and variations.
TaxKeel Pro keeps its settings and results in your own WordPress database. We can't see any of it.
The audit's CSV export is generated when you download it and goes straight to your browser. Pro doesn't save export files on your server.
TaxKeel Pro makes outside requests only for the following. It makes no other outside requests.
To check your licence and deliver updates, Pro connects to Freemius. When you activate a licence, Freemius always receives your site's homepage address, the licence key, the TaxKeel Pro and Freemius SDK versions, and whether Pro is active, deactivated or uninstalled on that site, so it can manage where your licence is used. On the activation screen you can also choose whether to share your WordPress user's name and email address, your WordPress and PHP versions and your site's title and language, and a list of your installed plugins and themes. Like any web service, Freemius also sees the IP address your site connects from. If you deactivate Pro, you can choose to give Freemius a reason. Freemius doesn't receive your order data.
If you add a webhook URL, Pro sends a message to it when a check finds new issues, or when you press Send test. The message contains your site's address, when the check ran, the number of errors, warnings and notices, and the title, severity and admin link of each new issue. It contains no order or customer data. Messages go only to https addresses and are signed so your receiver can verify they came from your site.
Pro sends emails through your own site's mail setup, to the addresses you set: nexus threshold alerts, notices about scheduled rate changes, and, on the Agency plan, alert copies and scheduled reports. Reports can include issue counts and titles, audit totals and the number of affected orders, and US states near or over their nexus threshold. They don't include customer details.
Because Freemius sells TaxKeel Pro on our behalf, it shares with us the details we need to run your licence and support you: your name, email address and billing country, any billing details you give at checkout (such as a company name, address or VAT number), your plan, licence and trial status, the sites your licence is activated on and whether Pro is active on them, and any optional information you chose to share when activating (see above). We don't receive your card or bank details.
When you email us for support or about your licence, we receive whatever you include in your message.
We never receive your store's order data, your customers' details, or your tax settings.
We use this information because we need it to provide the licence you've started or bought, because we must keep certain records for tax and accounting, to keep TaxKeel Pro secure, and, for product news, because you've agreed to it. We don't sell it and we don't use it for advertising.
Freemius is the merchant of record for TaxKeel Pro. It runs the checkout, takes payment through its payment providers, issues receipts and invoices, and handles VAT and sales tax. It processes your payment details and billing information under its own privacy policy at https://freemius.com/privacy/, as a separate business responsible for that data.
We keep licence and account details for as long as you have a TaxKeel Pro account, and afterwards for as long as we need them for tax, accounting or legal reasons. We keep support emails for as long as they're useful for helping you, and delete them on request unless we have to keep them.
Data that TaxKeel Pro stores on your site stays there until you remove it (see below). If your licence ends, nothing is deleted from your site.
Deleting TaxKeel Pro from the Plugins screen removes its settings and results from your database, including audit results, nexus figures, the bulk change history and Agency settings. It doesn't touch the free TaxKeel plugin's data or your WooCommerce tax settings. Temporary bulk-preview data expires on its own within 30 minutes. The Freemius SDK keeps its own small licensing record on your site, which it manages itself, and tells Freemius the plugin was uninstalled.

We're based in India, and Freemius and its providers process data in other countries. When your details are transferred, we and Freemius rely on the safeguards the law requires for that transfer.
Keeping your store's data on your own site is the main safeguard: it never passes through us. Webhook messages go only to https addresses and carry a signature made with a secret generated on your site.
TaxKeel Pro is a business tool for store owners and the people who run their sites. It isn't meant for children, and we don't knowingly collect data about them.
If TaxKeel Pro starts reading or sending anything new, we'll update this policy before that version is released. The date at the top shows when it last changed. For significant changes, we'll also tell customers by email.
